Vintage Candle for Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is No Cards! This time we are looking for anything but a card - Make gifts, home decor, altered items, etc...  Your project must be either vintage or shabby chic with a vintage image.

I decided to make a candle this week, a fun home decor project using a vintage image! I used some beautiful flowers, twine and metal pieces from my stash as well as some lace to add some details to the candle!

Vintage Christmas Card with a Twist for Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is Vintage Christmas Cards with a Twist! This time we are looking for VINTAGE CHRISTMAS CARDS WITH A TWIST - NON TRADITIONAL COLOURS.  Your cards must be either vintage or shabby chic with a vintage image.

I found this great Blue Santa image online for this card! Blue and Gold I figured were fairly non-traditional Christmas colors. I used some gorgeous paper, a doily I aged with Walnut Stain Distress Ink, some twine and bit of golden blingy holly. I finished it off with blue stitching.

Recycling/Repurposing Challenge for Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is Recycling/Repurposing! Make a vintage project which must have recycled or repurposed items.

This card is full of recycled and repurposed items! The corrugated board is from a box that contained some scrappy happy mail. I peeled off the top layer to show the corrugated texture... The twine was part of the packaging on a gift I received. The fun silber leaves are actually part of a deconstructed bracelet! I had a great time putting this together and finding fun recycled items to use.

I Can See Clearly Challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is I Can See Clearly! Make a vintage project which must include something clear,  By clear we mean items made from acetate or clear packaging such as the window for a shaker, a clear butterfly or even stamping on a clear panel.

For my clear element I used a clear acetate snowflake die cut that I cut apart and put on either side of my vintage image. I added lace, pearls, flowers and some stitching to give it just the right touch. I really like how it turned out and hope you do too!

1,2,3 Challenge for Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is One, Two, Three! Make a vintage project which must include one vintage image, two patterned papers and three embellishments and join our challenge!

I have layered two patterned papers here, one vintage image and for the embellishments included flowers, metal embellie and doily for my choices. I finished off the card with a bit of stitching around the edges for a fun detail.

Hide and Go Seek for Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is Hide and Go Seek! Make a vintage project and include a hidden item on it and join our challenge! Kerstin and Nina are our two guest designers for this challenge and you can also see their beautiful cards on the Sugar Creek Hollow blog.

As you can see, my hidden item was the tag with the sentiment on it! I tucked the tag in behind the vintage image and made it part of the design, pull it out and you find the secret message.  I added stitching around the edges, some gorgeous flowers and leaves from my stash and doily to finish the card off. 

I had a great time doing this challenge and I love the way this card turned out.  I hope you will come join us in the challenge!!!

Word Play at Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is Word Play! Make a vintage project and include a sentiment and join our challenge!

I just love to search for new vintage images to use on the computer and when I saw this one I knew it would be perfect for the Word Play challenge and that the colors and image were just beautiful! I have a little basket with extra flowers, lace off cuts and other leftovers from projects and I always challenge myself to make my cards from this little basket of beauty!! I added the gorgeous Tim Holtz word key and butterfly flower from my metal embellie stash but the twine lace and flower all came from my basket! I added my standard stitching around the card base edge and the image.

Tag You're It at Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is Tag You're It! Make a vintage tag in any theme and join our challenge!

I bought a ton of shells when I was in the States, as I love to use them as embellishments on beach layouts and cards...so I thought, why not a beachy themed tag!! In the end I went for a vintage image of mermaids which caught my eye! I inked my tag in Pine Needles and Spiced Marmelade Distress Ink then spritzed it with water for some cool effects. I used a mask and molding paste to make the cool white bubble effects around the edges of the tags. I added cheesecloth for texture under the image, some chipboard coral and seaweed and some real shells from my collection.

The mermaids are looking at strings of pearls so of course I had to add my own string of pearls to the tag. I added the small rub on words "discover beauty", then finished the tag off with some fibers that I think echo the mermaids hair!

Celebrations Card for Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is Celebrations! Make a vintage card or project that is perfect for a celebration and join our challenge!

I have had this fun vintage image in my stash for a while and I thought it would make a perfect birthday card! I added some paper twine, flowers and heart lace as well as my sentiment to make a playful and fun birthday card perfect for a little girl's (or little girl at heart) celebration.

Summer Sunshine Challenge for Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is Summer Sunshine! Make a bright vintage summery project and join our challenge!

I had this gorgeous beachy vintage girl image filled with bright pinks and blues which I thought would be perfect. I added lots of bright yellow accents with the lacy punch, the bright yellow Prima wire thread and Prima crochet icon, adding in a sweet flower and seashell. Bright and cheerful and full of summer sunshine.

On The Road Challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is called "On The Road", it is a vintage travel themed challenge and I had a lot of fun with this one!

I found a great vintage image online of a woman sitting on her steamer trunk, maybe waiting to start her travels to somewhere exotic! I have used some gorgeous 7 Dots Nature Walk paper with this card then added some clock chipboards from my stash , a shipping tag, a gorgeous Prima luggage resin, some flowers, pearls and a vintage key.

This is a current favorite card of mine, and love how it turned out, especially how perfect the resin fits the theme!! I really hope you feel inspired to join along in our vintage travel challenge this week!!

How Charming Challenge for Sugar Creek Hollow

This week Sugar Creek Hollow's challenge is How Charming. We need to include a metal charm on our vintage card creation. As you can see here, I added a charming bronze colored bird to my card, as well as some metal flowers tucked into my flower cluster. Since my gorgeous little vintage girl is climbing a ladder to her bird house in her garden, I thought it was the perfect detail to add.

I have added lots of flowers and distressed the edges of my papers. I added some lace and pearls and then finished the card off with some stitching. I just love how it turned out and hope that you will join us for the challenge!!!

Flowers Challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is Flowers. We have been generously sponsored by Doodle Pantry with our gorgeous images this week!

I am still extremely new to coloring images, so I love that they also provide some colored images that you can print and incorporate into your cards. This is what I have done. I printed on good thick cardstock and cut down to 4 inch square and edged it with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I added some striped paper as a base which I also inked, then added some lace and beautiful ribbon from my stash. I added some bling and a huge key to my card to finish it off. To me, I thought the it fit the sentiment...the key to life is to Live in Happiness Today and Always!!

Here Comes the Bride Challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our theme at Sugar Creek Hollow is Here Comes the Bride! I chose one of my favorite vintage wedding images to use for this card and distressed the edges. The doily here I believe is one I got at a restaurant we ate at during CHA in Los Angeles earlier this year! They were on the desert plates and being a cardmaker I just had to ask for a doily or two from them (unused of course!!). I added some pearls and gorgeous calla lily flowers to the card tying them together with a lovely bow.  Just a few layers and simple embellishments but I love the look it gives, hope you do too! Eat and Drink Challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow

This week we our theme for Sugar Creek Hollow is Eat and Drink! I found a gorgeous Art Nouveau ad for chocolate and decided to use that for my card this week! I added some gorgeous May Arts pom pom trim, die cut from Couture Creations and some yummy Petaloo flowers! I finished off the card with a bit of stitching around the edges.

Fairies and Angels Challenge for Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our theme at Sugar Creek Hollow is Fairies and Angels and we were generously sponsored by A Day for Daisies.  I chose this sweet little fairy dancing across a branch. I am not a colorer, but did get a lovely set of Kaisercraft Fusion markers which have been languishing so I tried a bit of basic coloring for this project!! I made a sky background with my Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and glittered up my fairy's wings with Stickles.  I layered three layer of card and distressed the edges, stitching the border of the main layer. To finish the card I added the sentiment and some flowers and twine!

Tic Tac Toe at Sugar Creek Hollow

This week at Sugar Creek Hollow we had to use the graphic below to complete a tic tac toe combination! I did two: a horizontal one of bling, lace and sewing and then the vertical sewing, distressing and die cut!! I have used Blue Fern Studios papers, some pink lace and some natural twine from my stash, some bling and some flowers... The die cut is a new honeycomb die from La-La Land Crafts. I finished off the card with some stitching using brown thread. I hope you like it and will come join us this week!!

Make Your Own Background Challenge for Sugar Creek Hollow

Another fun challenge over at Sugar Creek Hollow!!! This week we have to make our own background. Believe it or not, I started with a piece of white cardstock. I used a stone wall stencil from Prima and molding paste and then misted it with Lindy's Stamp Gang Moonshadow Mists. I then added the wonderful Bicycle photo stamp from Darkroom Door. I added a chipboard lock, key and Mini Barb Wire Strip from Molossi.

This challenge we were generously sponsored by Molossi, who make their own gorgeous chipboard, and also sell the amazing Darkroom Door stamp and Manor House flowers that I have used here.

Photo Inspiration Challenge for Sugar Creek Hollow

Back again this week with another fun challenge for Sugar Creek Hollow!!! This week we are taking our inspiration from the photo below:

I have been challenging myself to use my stash, some gorgeous SEI watercolor effect paper, some doilies, Prima flowers and twine, and a gorgeous "miracle" tab sent to me by the lovely Nicola! I found a lovely vintage image for this doing my favorite Google Image seach!

The colors are gorgeous in the photo, great shabby chic theme!! I hope you come play along with us!!!
