C'est Magnfique's September Kit!!

I'd love to share with you my first layout I did with the gorgeous new C'est Magnfique kit for September, Nature's Journey!!

The kit includes so many gorgeous embellishments and flowers I've tucked in some doilies, tags and die cuts behind my photo here, using Weathered Wood Distress Stain and Ground Coffee Dylusions for coloring the background.  The mask I used in my background is from the July Magnifique Mixed Media kit!!

  
Here you can see the gorgeous Blue Fern chipboard and Prima flowers I used. The chipboard is misted with the Ground Coffee Dylusions spray. I used the Prima stamp included in the main kit along with the ink to do my background stamping.

I have added color to the resin and added lots of flowers and die cuts here. I just love the way this layout turned out!

Tag You're It at Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is Tag You're It! Make a vintage tag in any theme and join our challenge!

I bought a ton of shells when I was in the States, as I love to use them as embellishments on beach layouts and cards...so I thought, why not a beachy themed tag!! In the end I went for a vintage image of mermaids which caught my eye! I inked my tag in Pine Needles and Spiced Marmelade Distress Ink then spritzed it with water for some cool effects. I used a mask and molding paste to make the cool white bubble effects around the edges of the tags. I added cheesecloth for texture under the image, some chipboard coral and seaweed and some real shells from my collection.

The mermaids are looking at strings of pearls so of course I had to add my own string of pearls to the tag. I added the small rub on words "discover beauty", then finished the tag off with some fibers that I think echo the mermaids hair!

Back to School with La-La Land Crafts!

This week at La-La Land Crafts our theme is "Back To School". I chose a great photo of my daughters first day of school a few years back and of course used lots of La-La Land Crafts dies!

I chose some fun bright green and yellow papers and accented with Prima Marketing flowers in coordinating tones along with gorgeous rolled roses using the Rolled Rose Large and Rolled Rose Medium and Small dies! I tucked in some of the Berry Flourish die cuts into the flower cluster. In the corner of the close up you can see the gorgeous hinge I used from the Booktab and Labels Die, you can see this more in the full photo of the layout, I love how it balances out the composition.

I decided early on in my layout that I was going to use the Hot Air Balloon Die along with the photo of my girls to kind of symbolize the journeys and adventures they would go on in their new school year. I added some fun layers using the Scallop Bracket Die and the Fancy Bracket Die. I used a lot stitching to accent my layout as well as some liquid pearls and regular pearls for flower centers. I really love how this turned out!

Button it Up!

This week I am back again guest designing for Craft Hoarder's Anonymous Challenge Blog!!

Challenge #14 is Button it Up!  Crafters of every stripe are button hoarders! Buttons are pretty, inexpensive, and extremely versatile. If you are a card maker, quilter, layout artist, or anything in between, you probably have a button hoard! Buttons come in many sizes, styles, shapes, and colors, plus they are easy to store...usually in cute containers! Pull out those bins of buttons and use some of them for your challenge project!

Here is my take on the challenge!!

I have lots of color-coordinated button jars but they got filled quickly as they were quite small...look at my extras in this jar!! I don't remember buying buttons but yet I have a MILLION of them! I dived into this button jar to find the cool vintage buttons for this card.

All the items are recycled on this card really, scraps of paper and flowers from DT work...some leftover die cuts from another project...I even used the waste scrap of the die cut to mask some leaves with some glitter molding paste! I had a lot of fun making this card.

Past Generations Layout for Meg's Garden

For my first project I am using The Gentlemen Collection. The main paper I selected was A Gentleman's Automobile. The image I used is an actual family photo of my Great Grandfather, John Jones. This is a photo taken of him that just perfectly matches the paper!! I couldn't wait to use this photo when I saw the gorgeous design.

In the close up above you can see some gorgeous Megs Garden products!! I just love the amazing Meg's Garden Vintage Trinket Drawer Pull and Knobs! I think they really add a great edge to the masculine layout.   I used the 10 cm Paper Doily underneath the photo and added a gorgeous black and gray
Silk & Organza Primula, two Latte Heirloom Flowers, and the lovely little Ivory and Chocolate Small Roses. I cut my Camel Mesh Ribbon in half to make a thinner ribbon to turn into a bow, the other half of the ribbon I tucked under the photo in a few areas for texture!

I used the vintage ads from the A Gentlemen's Ephemera - Cut & Create to layer under the photo, I just love that one of the vintage ads mentions St. Louis, that is where my Great Grandfather lived and where the photo was taken!! Perfect!!! I added some molding paste, masking, stamping and some simple alphas to finish off my layout and even used some strong Irish tea to color in my background!!

I really enjoyed creating my first project for Meg's Garden and hope that you liked it!!

Discover Tag for La-La Land Crafts

This week at La-La Land Crafts our theme is "Tags or Tickets". I decided to make a nature themed tag and of course loaded it up with La-La Land Crafts dies!

I used the beautiful Fancy Butterfly Die as a main focus for my tag...I imagine them flying around the gorgeous roses made from the Rolled Rose Large Die and Rolled Rose Small & Medium Die. I used some inspirational quotes and nature images from a Tim Holtz rub on set, as well as adding lots of twine and a stick pin. I had some bling mesh which I used for the butterfly centers and flower centers.

I used the Honeycomb Die for background texture and tucked in the leaves from the Open Leaf Flourish Die  in my flower clusters. For a finishing touch I added a gorgeous dragonfly charm.

Time Flies

Hi! Cathi here today sharing my take on Sandra's August sketch. This month we were generously sponsored by Creative Embellishments and the byChantalVandenberg Etsy Shop! I even based the color scheme of my layout on Chantal's gorgeous Flower Dreamer Embellishment felt embellishments I used!

Here you can see the fun  #SUMMER chippie I used from the Social Hash Tag chipboard set.  Sandra's sketch has a very modern look so I went for modern shaped chippies, like the Time Flies Frame Set and the
Squares set.

I used the adorable Flower Dreamer Embellishment from Chantal in two places. I painted my chipboard  in a blue to match the embellishments and used a fun pink Scrap Cake paper from my stash that fit in perfectly. Because I had to add some of my usual touches I used a Prima Circles mask and some Shimmerz Texturez to make my background and of course added a few flowers!

Celebrations Card for Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is Celebrations! Make a vintage card or project that is perfect for a celebration and join our challenge!

I have had this fun vintage image in my stash for a while and I thought it would make a perfect birthday card! I added some paper twine, flowers and heart lace as well as my sentiment to make a playful and fun birthday card perfect for a little girl's (or little girl at heart) celebration.
