I found this challenge a little while ago and thought it would be fun to join in and have my Christmas cards for the year done early by starting this!! This is for the Monochromatic challenge using Scrap Cake Cozy Christmas 6 x 6 papers and some cheesecloth with a nice Christmas sentiment I stamped in Prima Chalk ink Teal Damask... I edged the paper with crackle paint and did some stitching to echo the swirls on the stamp...
Thanks for looking!

Very Exciting News!!!
I haven't been scrapbooking for very long in my crafty life, I tried my first pages this time last year!! But I quickly became obsessed with cards and then layouts! I have a nice healthy (DH would say huge!) scrappy stash and if I don't glue photos and flowers to paper or do something scrappy daily, I go into withdrawals!
I love to use sketches as starting points for most of my layouts, as you have seen on my blog here lately...lots of sketch challenges!!!
Well, I got my courage up and entered a design team call last week for a very fun and relatively new sketch challenge site called the Paper Mixing Bowl!! And....I made the team!!! So exciting!!! I really didn't expect it and am greatly honored, I hope I can do a good job for them!
I really hope you will come along and join and check it out!!! Here is the June sketch and recipe!
You are given a sketch and a recipe along a food theme and you develop your layout using the great sketch and the scrappy elements from the recipe, so clever! There is also journaling suggestionss which are great, I love to add the extra journaling to record the moment...sometimes hidden, sometimes not...
Here is what I came up with for this sketch

June 2012 Challenge - Once Upon a Sketch
This months theme is birthdays...I did a layout using Prima Sunkiss papers...The journalling is about my beautiful little daughter Aisling...Aisling is turning 8 this week, she is one of a kind!! She wears a sock monkey headband every.single.day. and has her own quirky style! She usually runs away from the camera, so I am always happy to capture nice photos of her smiling...usually she is running away frowning!

Paper Mixing Bowl June Challenge
I decided to try my hand at this challenge when my friend Frank showed me the site and his gorgeous example. Here is my take:
Here is their "recipe" for this month, a clever idea for a sketch challenge, with suggested "ingredients"!
I added lots of twine, metal embellishments, including a Timmy word band with the quote "know you are loved" wrapped around the photograph... I used screw brads on the photo corners and a steampunk themed clock...word paper, book pages, some whitewashed Timmy tissue tape under the rolled paper bundle in the bottom corner... and bracket...tried to use all the ingredients!
I will give this to my husband for father's day with hidden journaling about how great a dad I think he is, well, most of the time, lol!!
