Autumn Color Inspiration for La-La Land Crafts

This week at La-La Land Crafts the theme is Autumn Color Inspiration!! I just love the colors of Autumn and these BoBunny Autumn papers were perfect to use for this long with lots of gorgeous La-La Land Crafts dies.

Here you can see the leaf branch and maple leaf dies from the Autumn Leaves Die (Set of 3) set into my flower cluster. I have also added some rolled roses using the Rolled Rose Large and Rolled Rose Small and Medium dies.

I had fun using a "Hey" flair from my stash and adding some texture with brown raffia into my flower cluster. Here you can see the gorgeous Fancy Butterfly Die and more of the Autumn Leaves Die (Set of 3) set leafy branches!

To layer under my photo I have used the always gorgeous Heart Doily Border Die, more of the Autumn Leaves Die (Set of 3) set leaves and the raffia, adding a few word stickers to help add to the layout. I just love the colors on this layout today!

I have decided to step down from the DT at La-La Land Crafts this month so this is actually my last official post for them, though I am sure you will see me using their dies in many projects in the future! They are a wonderful team to work with and an awesome company with so many of my favorite dies! Thank you so much Irina and Eric for having me on your team for the last year and a half, I am stepping back and starting to get back to knitting and quilting but will still continue to keep my hand in card making and layouts as I love them too much to stop altogether!

En Pointe!

Hello friends! I am back again for Riddersholm Designs with my latest project, a layout using the gorgeous Vintage Venture Blossoms paper! This week I decided to use some fun photos my daughter took of herself using my Ipad and a timer of her new pointe shoes, she's into her second pair already. Sigh. Hopefully for my budget these last a little longer.

In this first photo you can see I have used some Huntington Garden butterfly tag cut outs. I have also used a Riddersholm Ink-it bloom and tucked in a cute Prima ballerina resin and some twine loops.

I added some gorgeous Ink it cherry blossoms and some Riddersholm Glitter Glass to my layout. Here you can see some the butterflies I inked and added to the layout, as well as the masks and stamps I have used to add texture and dimension.  I titled the layout "En Pointe" "on pointe shoes"!

In my final photo you can see more flowers and resins added to the cluster, I tried to keep the movement flowing diagonally across the page. My feature flower is from Manor House flowers and is called appropriately enough for me, a Ballerina flower!

I had a great time adding layers of masking misting, stamping and glitter to my background and as always adding some great cut outs from the Riddersholm collections. Thanks for stopping by!!

Time Flies for La-La Land Crafts

This week at La-La Land Crafts the theme is Something for the Girls!!  I of course had to choose a photo of my girls, in a rare smiling photo together lol! This one was unplanned, so is probably why I got it, as if I asked them to pose together these days, much fighting would ensue and my camera shy youngest would probably run away.

Here in my flower cluster you can see rolled roses using the Rolled Rose Large and the Rolled Rose Small and Medium dies. I have also tucked in leaves from the Open Leaf Flourish Die and a piece of the Honeycomb Die.

The gorgeous papers from Blue Ferns Studios gave me the perfect color combinations for this layout. I added a gorgeous deep red Fancy Butterfly Die  and tucked in some of the cogs from the Steampunk Heart Cogs set.

Here are some of my favorite La-La Land Crafts dies: the Steampunk Clock Die and the Booktab and Labels Die hinge. I added turquoise crystals to many of the dies for a bit of added detail. And since my girls are growing up way too fast, I thought the clock and title "Time Flies" fit the layout perfectly.

Happy Happy Life Layout for Berry71bleu Forest Moodboard challenge!

Hi, fellow crafters, Cathi back again! This month our challenge is Forest and Tusia has made a gorgeous moodboard for us:

I had a great time incorporating this theme into my layout starting with a photo of my gorgeous daughter taking a nature walk years and years ago!

I used a lot of paper, tags, and stamps from the 7 Dots Studio Lost and Found collection. Here you can see a close up of polka dot masking and stamping both from the collection. The tags and cut out images are also from Lost and Found!  I had this gorgeous branch from Prima that fit perfectly and added the leaves.

I took an adorable speech bubble cut out from the Verano Azul collection and added some Petaloo flowers in earthy forest colors!  I added some pink and blue stamping to tie a little in with my daughter's clothes.

The thread like fibres on my page are actually from a package of raffia I bought just for this purpose, I knew I could use them somehow in my crafts!!

I hope you play along with us this month for this gorgeous challenge!!

Thank You Card for Riddersholm Designs

This week I'd love to share a card I made for a friend who loves hiking! I've used the gorgeous Vintage Venture papers to get a really earthy outdoor feel for this using the Blossoms paper!  I added to this by using some neutral colored flowers, leaves and some twine.

I layered the Avenant paper over the base and underneath my image.

Here you can see a gorgeous Ink-it Cherry Blossom from the Riddersholm store.

A lovely Wycinaka bird flourish is popping out underneath the flowers and some gorgeous lace!

I enjoyed putting this together and hope my friend will love it!

Decorate the Corners for La-La Land Crafts

This week at La-La Land Crafts the theme is Decorate the Corners!!  This week I decided to do something I don't do as often, a mixed media canvas!

I started by spraying the background with several colors of Lindy's Stamp Gang mists. I then added the Steampunk Hearts Cog Dies into the corners and sprayed them with some of the blue mist.

I decided to leave the rest of the die cuts white to stand out! I still loved the look of the Decorative Corner Die butterflies so I added several here with pearl centers rather than stickpins.

I tried to make the background look kind of sky colored and cloudy so that my Hot Air Balloon Die balloons could drift across it! I added the stamped clouds from the Sunny Day Background Elements stamp set and the lovely quote from the Beautiful Day Sentiments.

To add some more detail to the canvas I finished it off with a few birds winging their way in the sky using the Birds Die. I love the way it turned out!

Tutorial: Beaded Stickpin Butterflies!

This week I want to do a tutorial using some metal stickpin embellishments, making them into gorgeous butterflies by adding the Decorative Corner Dies.  They turned out beautifully but really are a quick and simple technique!

Now I don't want to spend a lot of time doing a tutorial about the beaded stickpins, I want to focus on using the Decorative Corner Dies and how to turn two of the corner dies into a beautiful butterfly embellishment! So, I will do a quick description about the beaded stickpins only. To start off with you can buy decorative stick pins with pearl or beaded heads in many different lengths, such as the one below:

Just use liquid glue to glue the beads you choose onto your stickpin and hang them or prop them upside down to dry overnight till they are on solidly. You can make them any way you wish, there are so many beads to choose from!!

To make the butterfly wings simply cut out two sets of whatever size corner flourish you choose. I have used the Decorative Corner Dies for my samples, but here I am cutting out several of the La-La Land Crafts corner dies, Decorative Corner DieScroll Corner Die, Filigree Corner Die and Lattice Corner Dieon my die cutting machine to make several different examples!

I just used my hot glue gun to take my two corner flourishes and adhere them together.

Next use the same strong hot glue to glue your stickpin to your newly made butterfly!

I folded up the die cuts to make the butterfly more dimensional and that is it! Simple and so pretty!

Here are some closeups of the stickpin embellishments in a layout. The Decorative Corner Die comes in two sizes so I was able to make similar butterflies in two different sizes!
They would work equally well on a card.

Have any of the La-La Land corner flourishes?
Why not try one of these fun and pretty embellishments for yourself!

Happy!

Hello fellow crafters, Cathi here!! This week I have a layout using the gorgeous Byegone Era paper from the Tailgate Marked line. It has a very nautical feel to it so I chose a photo of my girls on the water!

I used lots of mists molding pastes and stamps on this layout and added gorgeous Wycinaka chipboard.

I added some gorgeous blue Riddersholm netting behind my photo along with a tag journalling our day. I added some shells here and there to go along with the waterside theme! Here again you can see all the masking misting stamping and splashing in my background!

I used lots of Prima and Petaloo flowers from my stash as well as a gorgeous Riddersholm cutout tag.

I had fun making this layout and adding depth and texture to the background. I also pulled out the colors in my daughters shirt to use in the layout, lots of fun!

I hope you enjoy my layout this week and come visit the shop!!
