Making Costumes for Alice: My Final Project for Couture Creations

I have had a wonderful year working with my fellow DT members and the rest of the Couture Creations family. I will be sad to leave, but I know there is an amazing new team starting along with some of the wonderfully talented current team staying on, so I can't wait to see the new inspiration!

My final layout features the Sew Jo 12x12 Paper, the Harmony: Bricks in the Wall embossing folder and the great sewing themed dies Glamour Days Sewing Room and Sewing Kit.  My daughter is very excited about being Alice in her ballet school's upcoming show Alice in Wonderland next month!! She is as we speak in a 3 hour rehearsal and she is loving the extra dancing!! She wasn't loving so much being the dress form for mommy when I was helping make some costumes for the younger dancers! I managed to make 8 very basic playing card costumes to help out...a job my dress form daughter had volunteered me for lol!

I started by cutting out the Sewing Room and Sewing Kit dies in white.

I took two kraft tags and embossed them with the cool Bricks in the Wall folder. I used the Sponge Daubers to edge the tags in Walnut Stain Distress Ink adding a bit to the raised area to antique them a bit.

Next I cut out some flowers with the Sew Jo papers using the Daisy Nesting Dies. I edged these in Black Soot Distress Ink using the Sponge Daubers.

I layered the flowers and curled the edges then finished them off with a button and some twine. I used several layers of ripped edge paper layers to make this layout, adding some stitching details. I used a gorgeous dressform chipboard from Molossi and then I layered them all up, adding the white sewing room themed die cuts into my clusters. The tags hold some journaling behind the layers and also have a bit of twine adorning them.

I finished off the layout by adding my long winded title: "Making Costumes for Alice...in Wonderland!".

I enjoyed making this layout very much and I promise to share projects using Couture's wonderful products in the future on their Facebook page. Make sure you are following there to get all the talented design teams inspirations!!

Thanks Sew Much Card for Couture Creations

I can't believe my time is nearly finished with Couture Creations! It was my first manufacturer's design team and I have learned so much by being on the team and made some great scrappy friends! Thank you so much Andrew, Kerrie and the rest of the family at Couture Creations for giving me the chance to be on your first team!! I will always be grateful!!!! Just one more project this month, sniff sniff!!!  This week I've done a card using a favorite theme of mine: sewing!! I made a card using their gorgeous Sew Jo papers, Asian Wave embossing folder and the Glamour Days Dress Form and Sewing Kit  and Van Roe Royal Oval dies.

I started by cutting a five inch square base for my card in this great ruler paper from the Sew Jo paper pad.
I then cut the beautiful Van Roe Royal Oval die using the same paper.

Next I cut an oval from the Scallop Oval Nesting Dies and
embossed it using my Harmony Asian Wave Embossing Folder.

I used my Sponge Dauber to ink up the oval die cut in Chipped Sapphire and Walnut Stain Distress Inks.

I wanted to add some of the great die cuts from the Glamour Days Sewing Kit Die
I chose the scissors and spool for this card!

As a final layer on my card I cut out Glamour Days Dress Form Die.

I stitched a border around my base paper, then started layering using the 12mm Foam Mounting Tape.
I added a cute sentiment I had from Prima.

I hope you like my card!! I really like how it turned out.

Dreamer Layout for Couture Creations

Couture Creations released some beautiful new dies and folders at CHA. One that I fell in love with and had to have was the gorgeous Look in My Window Die. I love the window with 3D shutters and window box ! I decided to use mine on a layout and have my daydreaming daughter's photo peeking behind the window!

I first chose some gorgeous paper from the Couture Creations Sew Jo 12x12 Paper Pad as a base to my layout. I then used some white Core'dinations cardstock to die cut the Look in My Window Die.

Using the Harmony Bricks in the Wall folder, I embossed a sheet of white Core'dinations cardstock.

I cut the brick wall embossed paper into random pieces and inked these using Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

To put together the layout, I inked the window die with the Walnut Stain Distress Ink and placed my photo behind it. I then added the embossed and inked brick pieces to the background, adding gesso to further distress and antique the layout background. I also added a favorite script stamp.

To make the window box embellishments I added some handmade flowers using the Daisy Nesting Dies and a tutorial for the flowers that you can find HERE. I also added a Prima flower in there!  The leafy vine die is the gorgeous Sophia Dolce die. The flowers and vines were cut from another gorgeous piece of paper from the Sew Jo 12x12 Paper Pad. I added gesso randomly on the flowers and die cuts.

Here you can see it all coming together.I finished off the layout with my title "Dreamer" using Prima alphabet letters from my stash.

I hope you like my layout this month, and hope to see you sharing your work on the Couture Creations Facebook page!!!

Shabby Chic Vintage Card

Hi! Cathi here! This week I wanted to use some of my gorgeous glimmer cardstock to make a shabby vntage card with my new embossing folders and dies released at CHA!! I had the most amazing time visiting CHA this year and working one afternoon at the Couture Creations stand. Was great to get to meet some of the Australian DT in person!! I have a  few layouts planned for February with the new Secret Treasures releases, so many beautiful designs!!!!

To start my card I used a base of green glimmer cardstock and emboss it with the beautiful The Harmony Asian Wave Embossing Folder.

Next I layer my card with the beautiful Madeline Les Fleurs Die. In the cut out center of the die cut I added a beautiful vintage image of a woman I had.

I add some yummy keys from the Madeline Keys to My Heart Die.

I antiqued my card I used a very simple technique of adding gesso. It highlighted the raised edges of the embossed pattern, and when I coated the edges and random spots on the doily and key die cuts it added a really antiqued peeling whitewash paint effect to card, I just love how effective it looks!

To finish off the card I added a vintage seam binding double bow on the keys and some Couture Creations Self Adhesive Pearls on the doily. Simply done, but very textured and elegant effect.

Thanks so much for visiting today, I hope you like the project!!

My December Daily!

I've never done a December Daily before but wanted to give it a try! It is a little bit different from the norm. Mine is a mini that is kept inside a large 8x8 matchbox style box from Graphic 45. The papers I used were also Graphic 45's 12 Days of Christmas. This week I wanted to highlight the dies and embossing folders that I used on the box and mini cover inside and later this month I will show the inside of the mini with a few shots from this season's Christmas to remember!

I did a lot of fussy cutting of the embossed images for the cover, including Champagne and Holly for the holly leaves, Poinsettia Lullaby for the partridge and poinsettia, and Early One Morning for the lovely Christmas tree on the inside cover of the mini.

I used two gorgeous flourish dies from the Sophia collection: Stella and Oscar.

I love the extra detail that embossed image add to my vignette I have created and how the flourishes add to the design. I am so excited to have this a new piece of decor for years to come. I loved adding the little scene to the front of the box and the dancing scene on the cover of the mini.

Thanks so much for visiting today, I hope you like the project!!
