It has been a pretty hectic week here since last I posted. I managed to make it to two knitting groups, start 2 pairs of socks, start free hand baptist fan quilting on the tree quilt I brought over, and keep the kids doing tons of activities!
Here are some of the progress shots of crafty stuff:
Finished Dear Jane blocks. I ran out of pre-prepared blocks!!!
So....then I basted and started quilting on the Tree Quilt.
Then the knitting obsession took over. Sarah is teaching me how to knit two socks at the same time on two circular needles, I like it so far!!
But I also like DPNs, on which I started some very pink socks for some larger adult feet. They are for the 30th birthday of a friend of mine who likes pink. She picked out the pattern and it is keeping me on my toes, I like it, though the complicated pattern isn't really showing up quite yet, maybe next week.
Tuesday the girls, dad, and I went to the library for storytime, Wednesday a good day of swimming and playground. Sarah and her kids have been great. We met up with them on Thursday and saw daily for long hours on Friday and Saturday too, I bet they are happy to get a break from us. We went to a horse ranch with them on Thursday, on Friday went to knitting at Barnes and Noble with Sarah while the kids explored the kid section, then down to the library and a gorgeous tea house on the river. Saturday was a very fun Children's Festival. Add into the mix the usual errands, some yard sales, a paddling pool (aka wading pool) purchase and some sidewalk chalk and a fun and busy week was had by all! Thank you so much Sarah for keeping us busy last week, the girls and I had a great time! And look what Sarah had left for mom before we arrived! So generous!! A shawl she designed and knit herself, tea, chocolate and jewelry, what more could you want! Thanks again, mom loves the presents and the thought! Bloggers are wonderful folk :)

Looks like the girls are having a blast! Love all of your socks.
As always, Cathi, wonderful piecing and knitting. Although, the socks worked simultaneously puzzles me greatly...I can barely work on sock needles, let alone do two socks at once--LOL! Loved seing all the photos...Happy Days to you all ((HUGS))
Wow, you certainly get a lot done! Love the blocks, I'm amazed you're starting another DJ..I'll never get my first one done! And two socks at once? I can't even imagine how that works! You go, girl!
Just the idea of knitting two socks at once makes me dizzy, Cathi! But they look fabulous so far! Actually, EVERYTHING looks great - you are so super-talented!
HI Cathi, wow you really are packing a lot in. It looks great.I have a knitting craving at the moment even though I have been quilting but I just dont seem to be able to craft multitask like yourself. I'll just keep watching your blog and put that down as a skill!!!!
i am impressed with your schedule and knitting two socks at once? i'm just learning to knit and can't get a dishcloth done.
I'm learning 2 socks at once too, but I'm using 1 47 inch circular needle. I'm excited that I will have both socks done when I'm finished.
glad you're keeping busy and the rock candy finally worked!!! looks like the girls have found some friends to replace the loss of their barbara!

Boy, you're keeping busy, busy! I've just learned how to do two socks on one circ and I love it too -- I might even like two socks on two circs -- it would probably be a bit less fiddly. I do miss my dpn's though -- I love knitting with dpn's - -I might have to switch off. Your socks are very pretty and I can't wait to see them done. I also can't wait to see what quilt block my comment gets -- that's cool!
What a wonderful holiday you're having! Everything sounds just super and all the crafting looks great.
Very impressive. Your quilt looks great hanging there for everyone to see. Sharon of ''Red Geranium Cottage'' posted a beautiful picture of you quilt. I wish I could go to Sisters Quilt Show in Oregon: www.sistersoutdoorquiltshow.org
Maybe one day!
I love the blocks, Dear Jane and all, and how I wish I can get focused enough to get something going from my stash!
Thank you, Cathi, for the opportunity to be able to spend time with you and the girls last week. It has been an honor plus a load of fun. I hope we get to do more when you return from your trip! Our kids are having withdrawl :0( Have fun.
Blessings,
Sarah

Yah for keeping busy!! It's amazing how much to can do in between family and fun! I'm highly impressed with the making of 2 socks at the same time!! How cool is that!
Great pictures!
Good luck at the County Fair. It sounds like it will be great fun!!!
Awesome find! I need to get out to the garage sales.
Glad you are having such a good time...and glad your mom is up to getting about as well. Lucky you to get the Featherweight.I have one.... and I can tell you... you have to thread it properly.. I can't remember how... but my thread keeps breaking...must go online..as not threaded it since before we went to Africa. Just can't remember. So using my bernina instead at moment. Love the way the socks are coming...and those DJ blocks just keep calling to me. Must get started.
Lovely machine, and what a find!
What a lovely white featherweight. I have a couple, and although I haven't sewn on them - ever - others love them.
I have a Featherweight just like yours that a friend bought me at a yard sale for $10. I love the little thing - a real workhorse. Yours looks to be in good shape. Waht a find! If you don't have the manual, you can sometimes find them online.
