I have gone a bit crazy trying out some fun sketches for my cards today! Here is a gorgeous one I used from Sweet Stop Card Challenge. Again, I used 7 Gypsies Trousseau paper scraps and some stickers from the sheet included in the kit...the flower is from the addon I got!

Swirlydoo August Card - iSpy Sketch

I am going to be using the scraps from my layouts to make some cards and this is one I am entering into a fun new challenge I found, iSpy! I used scraps from my 7 Gypsies Trousseau papers and a lovely black flower from the kit...

OK confession to my poor long suffering knitting and quilting readers that have stuck by me after I have changed focus...not only am I addicted to paper, but use my budget to buy several kits of lovely papers and embellishments...I should probably cut it down to one or two kits but I enjoy these too much right now and am still managing to save for the family, so will indulge my scrappy passions for the moment.

I am going to try to blog about one kit and the projects I do with it each week. I will try to do at least one layout if not more and several cards from the scraps! We'll see how it goes, best made plans and all...

This week I am focusing on a beautiful kit by Swirlydoos called Vintage Traditions...it is their August selection and it is gorgeous! Lots of beautiful papers and embellishments!

My take on the sketch turned out like this!!

The photo is one of my grandmother and her younger sisters in the early 20s or so...I had a lot of fun trying masking and using gesso...got out some cheesecloth to layer as well.

We were supposed to use lace and Prima packaging as well...here is my take using black lace and paper scraps from the card and the clock is taking from Prima flower packaging... I turned the sketch on its side for this one...

I think it will be fun to take the leftover pieces of paper to make cards to sell at Wood Brothers, plus there is always tons more full sheets of patterned paper left and embellies to put in the stash for later... Love to get the most out of my kits as possible and making sure to do cards with leftovers will help that!

September Reveal for Paper Mixing Bowl

We had a fun theme for this month: games! I knew exactly what I wanted to do for this, as we have a weekly game of Mexican Train dominos with some friends of ours and our eldest daughter joins in on the fun too!!

I have a had the yellow domino paper in my stash for ages...well I've only been scrapping just over a year, so I bought this paper about a year ago: Crate Paper Restoration!  When I saw the color for this month was yellow and games night...I knew that paper had to come out!

For my utensils I used game pieces, actual dominos I bought to alter for projects...these ones I colored with yellow and green alcohol inks to tie into the layout....I also stamped on the back of six of them to make the title...I'll explain how you can alter dominos with the alcohol ink and use Staz-on ink to embellish them in a post later this week....I have also made beautiful necklaces as gifts using this same technique! It isn't difficult and the results can be so stunning!

I did some black soot ink splatters...the domino and dots are definitely my repetitive shapes! I used kraft paper with some freehand doodles for my layering and the journalling is hidden on the white tag which you can use the domino glued to it to pull it out :). We've had this game night for years now and it is lovely to have our friends over for a bit of fun each week! So fun to create a layout about it!!

C'est Magnifique August Sketch!

I really have been bad at getting back into the scrapping rhythm after our trip home from the States! Can't believe this is the first challenge I've managed to complete since then. The girls had a chance to do some Irish summer camps with friends and to visit family and do a trip with Dave up to Titanic museum in Belfast too...busy but fun last few weeks of summer!
