A Day Out at the Beach!

I did this layout for the C'est Magnifique sketch challenge and CSI. Here is the gorgeous CM sketch and the CSI case file:

As always, the C'est Magnifique kit was gorgeous, just love the papers and the embellishments that Leslie puts together every month.

To solve the case my evidence was: circles, flags, architectural details tone on tone paper... and for my testimony I documented a day out!

I would love to enter this for the Scrap Africa chipboard challenge as well.

WHW #102 - Swing Card!

I have been having fun lately trying Inspired by Stamping's Woo Hoo Wednesday challenges! They have been making me trying new techniques and getting me to use my stamps again, you should see my collection and after starting scrapbook pages, they have been languishing for a while, but no more!! Why can't I stamp and do layouts too right??

This week the challenge is to try a swing card, something I have never done. The sample was for a circle, but I decided the Inspired by Stamping Fancy Labels 1 die would be a great shape to try as well! I used stamps from Amazing Inspirations and Trendy Circle Sentiments and some gorgeous flowers from my stash. The dress form is a canvas resist shape from Prima. It isn't perfect, my cutting out with my craft knife around the die cut shape for the swing part could use more practice, but I like the way it turned out!!

Hambly Goodness at Paper Temptress

Here is my first blog post for Paper Temptress that went live on their blog!!

I decided to base my two projects I have here today on one gorgeous sheet of Hambly's Studio Screenprint: Dinner Party. My first project is an ATC.

I used the main image from the paper and cut it down to ATC size. I was doing an art deco themed ATC so it was perfect! I also punched a butterfly out of the beautiful paper. The base of the paper is a great heavy weight and has an amazing gold shimmer to it. After I made the ATC I decided to make a card base with it.

I love to use vintage images so of course I had to pick out a fun summery one to use. I also layered an Antique White Vintage Patchwork design from the Hambly's Overlay #1 packet, a great selection of smaller overlays suitable for cardmaking.

I added ribbon and some flower from my stash and punched some leaves from that gorgeous gold paper to finish the card off!

Paper Temptress specializes in card stock and sell the wonderful Cryogen White paper loved for Copic coloring, as well as many metallic and shimmer cardstocks, ribbons, flowers and so much more!!

There is a HUGE SALE going on right now for Memorial Day,
check out the big savings HERE!

Frosted Designs Reveal: Punches!!

This week's challenge for Frosted Designs is to get out your punches! I used one of my big Crazy 8 punches to make the die cut page layer. I also used my scallop circle punch to make the flowers with the book print tissue paper!

I made this layout with the gorgeous May Mixed Media Kit from Paper Wings Productions! It is full of Pink Paislee Cottage Farm goodies: journal cards, die cuts, and rub ons...I got a few of the pretty canvas mistable shapes, some seam binding and some Prima sparkly bling. I made the flowers from the She Art tissue paper that was included in the kit, and there is always a sheet of vintage images included, I chose that gorgeous little girl for central image! The kit also includes the Dylusions opaque white mist which I used but is hard to capture in the photo. I love the softness it gives to the layout!

This weeks sponsor is

And by playing along, you could win this....

Hope you get out your punches and join us over at Frosted Designs.

I would love to enter this for the Craft-Dee Bowz May challenge!

Joie de Vivre - Couture Creations

Hi, Cathi here! I am so excited to share my second May project for Couture Creations today! I used many doily dies, nesting dies, a decorative die and a gorgeous embossing folder to create this layout!

My main die cut is the beautiful Fantasia Irish Dreams Doily Die, appropriate one for me, living here
in Ireland! I used the Graphic 45 French Country collection for this layout and cut a doily from their blue toile paper. I also used the Fantasia Ivy Set Doily Dies, a set of two gorgeous smaller doilies and inked all of their edges with my Couture Creations sponge dauber.  I cut the Irish Dreams doily in half to use as matting under my photos of my eldest Aine (it is Irish name, pronounced on-ya) up on the hills overlooking the local lake Lough Derg.

I layered, stitched and distressed a sheet of Graphic 45 paper placing it on some Core'dinations card stock as a base. For my next layer I used the Couture Creations Fresh and Fun Large Powder Puff embossing folder. I embossed one side of the paper and turned it around and matched it up to finish embossing the long sheet of paper. I used my Couture Creations Sanding Block to bring up the blue core color and then distressed the paper with my Tim Holtz Walnut Stain distress ink. I attached it to the layout with Couture Creations double sided tape.

I layered several fussy cut pieces from the French Country collection and also placed my smaller doilies in these layers. I also used molding paste and a stencil on the background paper and inked over top using my  sponge dauber again with some yellow ink. I then popped my photos up using Couture Creations Foam tape to add some extra dimension.

I made two more types of flowers for this layout using the Couture Creations Daisy Nesting Dies.

My first is a layered sunflower to tie in with the Graphic 45 papers. I cut out two of the middle sized flower die. I cut several slits into each daisy petal with my Couture Creations non-stick scissors.

I then shaped the smaller petals with my Precision LED Tweezers giving them a twist to add some dimension to the flower.

I glued the two layers together and then die cut the smallest of the Daisy Nesting Dies
and embossed it with the same folder to make the flower center.

My second flower I used the second smallest Daisy Nesting Dies and did a rolled flower, cutting a spiral into the die cut and then rolling the outside of the flower towards the center, gluing the outer flower down to the base at the center of the die cut.

I used the sponge dauber again to distress the edges of the flowers and added Couture Creations self-adhesive pearls to the centers.

I arranged and glued down the flowers and added the gorgeous Endless Dreams: Longevity Decorative Die to the cluster to give a little more interest.

.
I finished off the layout with a ribbon bow and some burlap string.

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that you will share any work you do with these gorgeous dies and folders on our Facebook page!!

First Communion Preparations

I am so excited to say this layout is being
published in a print magazine, my first ever!!

I did this layout for the Once Upon a Sketch May Challenge to use their sketch and a number somewhere in the layout. Here is their gorgeous sketch:

I covered my bases pretty well using numbers with a "1" sticker, the title First Communion Preparations and with the date! My journaling is hidden on the back side, where I say: "This is my favorite photo of you on your Communion Day. You look beautiful and I can see a rare smile from you in the mirror's reflection". I am so proud of you my baby girl!"

I used my Scraps of Elegance kit Prima Fairy Rhyme paper and just love the May Arts ribbon and gorgeous die cut doilies from Gina's Designs that are in the kit. I used a stencil and modeling paste, lots of Prima flowers and a trinket.

Don't you just love the Molossi chipboard dress form? So big and beautiful! I applied gesso to it then cream colored acrylic paint. I stamped a script stamp on the dress form in Victorian Velvet and Broken China Distress Inks.

I'd also love to enter this in the Zeus and Zoe challenge and the Berry71Bleu challenge.

Thanks so much for taking the time to look!

Sugar Creek Hollow DT Reveal: Clean it Out!

This week the DT have been cleaning out and raiding their stash and scraps to make their cards! My C'est Magnifique kit from April just had a few scraps and pieces left in it, so I cut out a vintage image from the Pion Alma's Sewing Room papers that had been in the kit and then made the card base and layers with scraps left over from the same papers! The beaded stick pin was from a swap years ago and the flowers have been in my stash quite a while.

I have a drawer where I throw in lots of paper scraps and try to start many of my cards that way...of course that means I don't actually use the 6x6 paper pads that I have accumulated way too many of! At least these days I realize that I won't go back and use the same collection over and over, there are just too many interesting new ones that keep coming along...and I don't seem to collect quite as much as I had done in my first year of papercrafting lol!

If you love vintage or shabby chic themed card making, I hope you will come over and join us at Sugar Creek Hollow!!

I'd love to enter this into the MilkCoffee Vintage challenge.

Just for You

I love using bits and pieces I have in my stash for my cardmaking, this is no exception...more Kaisercraft These Days leftover paper to make this card, a vintage image...some wooden Prima butterflies painted in Creative Inspiration Gold Paint, very sparkly! Some Wild Orchid Crafts calla lillies, ribbon scraps and my Inspired by Stamping die and stamp set, this time cut out on burlap and vellum. I used my Staz On inks to stamp on the vellum and they worked great!

I'd love to enter this in the Creative Inspirations Paint Inspired By Mother's Day challenge and the Inspired By Stamping WHW #101 challenge. I had a lot of fun with this one!

Forever Friends - IBSIC #54

I raided my stash to find these Echo Park Victoria Gardens papers that fit this week's Inspired by Stamping color challenge perfectly. I received my order from Inspired By Stamping a few weeks back and finally took it out to play with...love the die and matching stamps!

Thinking of You Card - Couture Creations DT

Today I have a little card up on the Couture Creations blog!

I wanted to showcase this "Thinking of You" Couture Creations embossing folder and I knew that a card was a perfect way to do it! I didn't want to cover up the sentiments on the folder, so I made this card very clean and simple and used my favorite color combo of turquoise blue and brown!

To make this card I cut a 5" x 5" square of kraft cardstock. I embossed the Broken China Kraft-Core Core'dinations cardstock with the Thinking of You folder and used my Couture Creations Sanding Block to have the Kraft Core show through the gorgeous sentiments and images. I used my largest scallop square nesting die to cut the cardstock and attached it to the kraft cardstock base using 18mm double sided tape  I attached a piece of twine around the embossed die cut for a nice accent.

To make a flower for the card I used my smallest Couture Creations Daisy Nesting Die and layered several of die cut book pages. Using my Couture Creations pointy tool I punched through all the layers and secured them with a small brad.

On top of the brad I placed Self Adhesive Pearls and surrounded it with Couture Creations adhesive gemstones...I scrunched up the flower die cuts to make a simple flower and then used my Couture Creations sponge dauber to highlight the flowers with Broken China distress ink.

Under the flower, I used a Scallop Oval Nesting Die cut from kraft cardstock which I lifted up over the twine with Couture Creations Foam tape.

I took the card base and attached to a premade square card again with my 18mm double sided tape.

A simple, sweet card to send to someone to let them know you are thinking of them!!

Aisling's Special Day - Molossi May DT Layout

Here is my first layout for the Molossi Chipboard Design Team! I just fell in love with this fence and hanging sign I received! I treated the chipboard with a coat of gesso first then Walnut Stain Distress Ink and Brilliance Rocket Red Gold inks for an antiqued shabby look.

I used the beautiful Kaisercraft These Days papers that I have been hoarding in my stash for far too long, and finally cut into them making loads of banners as a matting for my photo. I inked the edge of all the papers  with my Walnut Stain Distress Ink, placed my photo in the center of the banners and used some of the These Days stickers to layer. I added my fence chipboard in two pieces around the photo and the hanging sign above the photo which has the title of the layout.

Finally, I added some Kaisercraft blooms and some coordinating seam binding as well as some Martha Stewart leaf punches to finish off the page.

I really enjoyed doing my first layout for Molossi. I only received my DT packet yesterday but wanted to get started right away! I am looking forward to seeing what next month brings, these pieces are so intricate and so strong. I've often had pieces this intricate fall apart when removing them from their background, but these chipboard pieces are very sturdy as well as intricate, I am in LOVE!

I used the beautiful Kaisercraft May Saturday Sketch #2 for my layout:
