Timeless: Recipe Challenge Layout for La-La Land Crafts

This week at La-La Land Crafts the theme is Recipe.
I really went for it this week with lots of layers and flowers! Of course I used lots of La-La Land Crafts dies too! I created this layout using gorgeous papers from the November C'est Magnfique Kit: Blue Fern Studios Montage collection.

So lots of pink and blue on the layout, got that part of the recipe! The three squares are the vintage ephemera tucked in behind the vintage image. My circle is the Steampunk Clock Die (well actually between buttons and flowers there are lots of circular elements!) A dab of ink with my script stamping... Touch of cute...the vintage image is my cute...and bright pink buttons sprinkled in.

As far as die cuts there are a lot here! A Fancy Butterfly Di butterfly on my flowers, some beautiful Cherry Blossoms Flower and also the Picket Fence Die tucked in behind the flower clusters. For a finishing touch I added the Open Leaf Flourish Die  leaves tucked into flowers.

All of the flowers, chipboard and embellies have come from the gorgeous November kit which will be released November 1. Check out all the add ons and papers right now in their store.

I Can See Clearly Challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow

This week our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is I Can See Clearly! Make a vintage project which must include something clear,  By clear we mean items made from acetate or clear packaging such as the window for a shaker, a clear butterfly or even stamping on a clear panel.

For my clear element I used a clear acetate snowflake die cut that I cut apart and put on either side of my vintage image. I added lace, pearls, flowers and some stitching to give it just the right touch. I really like how it turned out and hope you do too!

I hope you will come play in this fun challenge this week!!!

The Book of Jones: Sherlock Book Kit Project from Meg's Garden

This month I have done a mini book with the gorgeous new book kit I was sent in my DT parcel: The Sherlock Book Kit by Watson. This kit is chock full of gorgeous vintage pages and vintage ephemera cut outs!  I have put my pages together by glueing them back to back and then stitching down the middle of the spine to bind them. I stitched the pages to the cover and then covered the stitching with the gorgeous textured piece to imitate an old book or journal. I love the look it gives!

For the cover details, I added a gorgeous ribbon from the Temptations in cream, camel, copper & brown set. I have used a vintage cut out from the The Sherlock Book Kit by Watson and then decorated it with gorgeous Chocolate Small Roses, Paper Lilies and one of the beautiful Pen Nibs.

Here is a detail of the stitching binding all the pages to the cover:

Here is a look inside my mini, all of the photos are of my mother's side of the family, The Jones'. I guess I am keeping up with my Joneses in this album, and I am very lucky to have some really amazing photographs to share!!

Here is my first page. My grandfather Ernest Jones was a musician and had a big band back in the 30s and 40s, Ernie Jones and the Mound Citians! St. Louis was called the Mound City as there are actually some prehistoric passage tombs of early native Americans found in and around the big city!  I have used lots of ephemera on this page, a metal flower cut in half from the Temptations in cream, camel, copper & brown set, lots of background stamping and masking.

This next photo is a favorite of mine and I have it framed and hung up on the wall! This is my great great Uncle Leo and some of his pals. They demonstrated roller skating as a brand new "sport" at the St. Louis World Fair in 1904. I added lots of metal bits again from the Temptations in cream, camel, copper & brown set, choosing round ones and industrial type ones to tie into the roller skate theme. The vintage cut outs I used all tied in with new inventions and a globe, to fit the theme of the World's Fair. I have used mist, stamping and masking again to tie the pages together.

Here is a familiar photo I just had to add to my book again. I added gears from the Temptations in cream, camel, copper & brown set, and lots of vintage cut outs. I finished off the pages with more masking and stamping.

Here in the centre of the book is my beautiful grandmother Rosemary Furlong Jones. I had to add this familiar photo in too!! To decorate these pages I used the Ivory Small Roses and a 10 cm Paper Doily and more vintage cut outs from the The Sherlock Book Kit by Watson and metal flower from the Temptations in cream, camel, copper & brown set.

The next page is a photo of my grandmother a little older with her three younger sisters and...a goat...not sure about this one, didn't get a story to go along with this!!. I used some photo corners, a metal filigree and the white flower from the Temptations in cream, camel, copper & brown set and many many vintage cut outs.

My final page in the book is one of my favorites! The youngest girl from the photo above with the goat turned in my beautiful Great Aunt Marge. This photo she had taken for my Great Uncle Les so he could have a photo to remember her by during World War II. Such a stunning photo, I just love this one! I have again used the metal pieces, flowers and ribbons from the Temptations in cream, camel, copper & brown set as well as some 10 cm Paper Doilies.

I love how the book has turned out and hope you have enjoyed looking through it!!

Autumn Card for La-La Land Crafts

This week at La-La Land Crafts the theme is Halloween or Fall.  I decided to do something different and I have finally made a card for La-La Land!! You see, the DT is full of super talented card makers and I have always been a bit intimidated, but I really wanted to do a card with this autumn vintage fairy image I found, so I went for it!!

I cut the image with the Stitched Nested Circle die, surrounding the image with the gorgeous Berry Flourish die.  I added a greeting using the flag die from the Stitched Elements set.

I added some Rolled Rose Large and Rolled Rose Small and Medium roses and added some twine accents.

I distressed and inked the edges of the card and added the Filigree Corner Die. I love the colors on this card and hope you like it!!

May Your Days be Golden: Autumn Moodboard Challenge for Berry71Bleu

This month there is a delicious mood board created by Dana Tatar. This time of year is about celebrating the breathtaking array of colors and textures and the sense of change and anticipation that is evident all around us. We want to see how you are falling for Autumn!

I based my layout on the gorgeous colors and flowers in the moodboard. The photos are of my daughter last year posing amongst the fallen leaves here locally in Ireland. I added tons of flowers from my stash in gorgeous autumnal tones and even some Petaloo blackberries, which are always plentiful in Autumn here!

Here you can see some of the flowers and branches I added to my cluster and some gorgeous chipboard pieces from the Molossi Brick Wall Panel. I inked them in a beautiful red gold.

Here are some more gorgeous flowers in my cluster, more Molossi Brick Wall Panel pieces, and you can see where I printed the  Jellypark Four Trees Digital Stamp onto some of my BoBunny Autumn Song pattern papers and tucked them into my cluster like beautiful autumn leaves.

I added a bit of masking using white molding paste to add a little background character and added some stickers from the BoBunny collection.

I really loved putting together this gorgeous autumn colored layout and
I hope you can find the time to join us this month! There are some amazing prizes up for grabs!

Using Multiple Dies to Create Layered 3D Frames

This week I created this layout for the blog. I wanted to create a special frame to highlight my beautiful girl on her horse ride at the County Fair!  You can make some amazing frames when you think outside the box and use your La-La Land Crafts dies a little differently!

I started by cutting out my photo using one of the Stitched Nested Circles.

To create my frame I simply used two different sized circles...this cut the inside and outside circles to make the frame. I didn't use the next sized down circle for this but skipped that one and used the largest and third largest circles to make a wider frame.

To finish off the rest of the frame I cut out 2 of the Lattice Doily Border Die and four of the hinge from the Booktab and Labels Die set. For two of the hingest I cut them into smaller pieces for accents for the frame.

To start creating my frame on my layout, I placed the two Lattice Doily Border Die pieces first.

I added foam dots to the back of my Stitched Nested Circle to give it some dimension.

I placed the frame over the photo and then placed the frame onto my Lattice Doily Border Die die cuts.

Finally I added my hinge pieces complete with their pearl accent, just the right decorative touch for this frame!

There are many ways to create special frames with our dies, check out the beautiful frame that DT member Sue Kohler did creatively using the Heart Tree die, a label from the Stitched Elements and the Stitched Nested Circles.

Give it a try! Create your own special frames using La-La Land's gorgeous dies!
