A Gift From Above: A Layout for Scrap Africa!

This week our theme at Scrap Africa is Stars and Stitching! I had seen these folded stars on a friend's layout one time and really liked the look of them so decided I needed to try them for this challenge and found a tute online!! Such an effective embellishment using only patterned paper from your stash!

I used the gorgeous new Blue Fern Studios Garden papers, lots of mists, molding paste and a Finnabair checkerboard stencil. I layered lots of paper, used some gorgeous Prima and Petaloo flowers and of course had to use some Molossi chipboard and my favorite Visible Image stamp Bronte Script!!

I love how this turned out and hope you do too!! This is actually my last post for Scrap Africa, as I have decided to step down from the team. I have enjoyed being on this amazing team filled with diverse styles and such talented DT members and participants!!! I know I will be back to play along when I can!!!!

I'd love to enter this in the Scrap Around the World Challenge! Here is their gorgeous moodboard for this month:

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Just a Note! Sketch #27 for Scrap Africa

This week we are following a sketch and I thought it would be great to reinterpret the sketch for a card! I have been on an orange and pink kick lately, so I made this card in those colors.

Here is the sketch I based it on:

I found some pretty watercolor effect paper in my stash and used this for a card base. I had the gorgeous Art Nouveau ladies printed out already so laid these out based on general idea of the sketch. I added stamping and some gorgeous Manor House flowers and Molossi keys and banner. For a final touch I added stitching around the edges.

I hope you come play along with us this week at Scrap Africa!!!

Love! Scrap Africa #26

The last of my Valentines cards this year, which I made for the Chipboard with a Difference challenge at Scrap Africa. For this week you had to use chipboard but not just plain chipboard, it had to be altered somehow!

I used gorgeous chipboard banner pieces from Molossi and used several treatments! I used Broken China Distress Crackle paint which I let dry and then used Walnut Stain Distress Ink to antique the edges and bring out the crackle texture. I then stamped on the chipboard finally adding gesso for an extra layer of interest.

I stitched around the edges of my vintage image and my background paper, added some flowers and used modeling past and a honeycomb mask along with some mist to build up my background.

I really enjoyed doing this card and hope that you will come do the chipboard challenge with us this week!!

Endless Summer: Sketch Challenge No. 26 for Scrap Africa

This week at Scrap Africa we have another sketch challenge! Here is the gorgeous sketch we worked with:

I kept my layout fairly clean this week, just using a bit of subtle background stamping so the Manor House papers and flowers could take center stage! I really love the calm feeling of this layout!

I chose the Cobble Stone Wall chipboard and the Endless Summer words. I covered them in gesso, heated them till they bubbled and got a great texture. I inked them with Walnut Stain Distress Ink first and then edged them with Black Soot Distress Ink to tie in with the colors of the paper and flowers, I love the graded effect of colors on the chipboard. For the flowers, I used the gorgeous white Minuettes - Pink mix, Letters from Paris, and Denim Vinettes. The fussy cut butterfly actually came from the packaging of one of the flower packs, a finishing detail!

Cherish

This week Scrap Africa is hosting a RECYCLED challenge. I have added some Christmas recycling to this layout!! The corrugated board is from the flap of a box we just received with belated Christmas presents in it and I have also used some white netting on the photo matting which held some Christmas chocolates that came in a stocking! I used lots of Molossi chipboard on this layout as well as paper from Manor House and all of their flowers!

I used the gorgeous Lampost #3 chipboard piece for this layout. I inked it with Black Soot Distress Ink then took my Lilac Gold Gilding Wax and you can see the amazing metallic golden sheen this adds to your chipboard!

The second piece of Molossi chipboard I used is the Cherished word chippie. Again it was inked in black and I used the Lilac Gold Gilding Wax to highlight it.

I used tons of Manor House flowers on my layout here you can see a Black Ballerina Flower from the Classic Mix. The grey flowers are from the Minuettes Pink Mix.  The large purple and smaller lilac flowers are from the Razzles Card pack in purple.

The papers I used are from the Manor House Believe paper collection. I used the Us Together paper for the base of my layout. For my fussy cut butterfly I placed on my flower cluster, I used an image from the Elements Cards paper.

Busker

This week at Scrap Africa we have a sketch challenge! Here is the sketch we used:

I've used gorgeous Molossi Fencing Wire chipboard and Manor House flowers for this layout. You can also see the gorgeous Manor House Idyllic flowers in Cornflower, Gratitude, and the dramatic red Ruffles flower. I have also added a few small Molossi pink paper roses to the mix.

The photos are of my daughter busking with some of her friends around our little village. It was part of a competition that they actually won!! Her ballet has taken over from her fiddle playing but hopefully she will be able to keep up her playing a bit locally at some informal "seisuns" where they play together in pubs here usually on a weekend afternoon.

I've used some butterflies here from Renea Harrison's Etsy shop, just gorgeous!!

Nice and Bundled Up

This week our challenge at Scrap Africa is Glitter, Masking and Snowflakes!! I used the aqua and brown papers from my Prima Holiday Jubilee papers to make a nice a snowy layout! My snowflakes were punched from a Martha Stewart punch and covered in silver Stickles for the glitter and snowflake ingredients! I used a Paint Splat mask from Crafters Workshop to make my snowy icicle using modeling paste.

I added a rosette with a snowflake center as part of my flower cluster, tucking in some drywall tape grids for some fun texture around the layout.

To add a little bit of a snowy feeling I sprayed some White Linen Dylusions mist around the edges of the layout.

I just loved this challenge over at Scrap Africa and I hope you will come join us!!
