I had such a great time making this candle, and will give a tutorial later this month on the Paper Wings blog on the relatively simple techniques to transfer the stamped images and the beautiful printed vintage image into the candle. You can tell by the sheen on the photo here that the wax saturated the papers that I transferred, embedding them under a thin layer of wax, transforming an inexpensive candle into an amazing home decor piece.
My autumn image I actually chose from the Summer Clip Art Sheet, I just loved the colors on it. I chose the Triptych Cling Stamp to place behind my vintage image, I love the decorative scrolls and details on it. I inked up the stamp in Rusty Hinge distress ink, stamped it onto white tissue paper and cut around the image. I stamped it a second time and placed it on the other side of the vintage image. A little bit of heat and magic later and I had a gorgeous image and stamped motif decorating my candle!
You can see the stamp in more detail below:
I used a lot of embellishments for the bottom of the candle to really celebrate the autumn theme!
If you look at the bottom of the candle, you can see the doily from the gorgeous August Nesting Components Kit...I had used the center of that doily for a card on a blog post last month. I had the outer ring of the doily left...so perfect, it fit right around the base of the candle over top of the glass base the candle came on! I added some blingy Prima leaves, a bark butterfly and a flower from my stash, then added some smaller Prima leaves and gorgeous autumnal seam binding that came in the September Nesting Components Kit. A little raffia finishes off this seasonal candle.
Come have a look over at Paper Wings Productions and have a look at their gorgeous mixed media kits, images and stamps! I have a special code you can use for a 25% discount too!! Use the code PWP*FAN3 at checkout and you will get a great discount on these gorgeous products!
I really love how it turned out and I hope you like it too!! I am entering this for the September PPP challenge.
